Our Community | Physical Therapy Jersey City
A Better Life PT understands that A Better Life for all starts with the individual. ABLe Physical Therapy is proud to be a 100% minority owned business. We are fortunate enough to be located in the heart of the Jersey City Urban Enterprise Zone and happy to provide jobs for our community and surrounding neighborhood.

Dr. Josef and his Team actively participate in and sponsor programs serving our inner city youth, senior citizens and the underserviced. We at A Better Life understand that bettering the community in which we live is a grassroots effort. We hope you can join us and share in our various causes.

Below are some of the many programs we actively participate in.

ABLe owner Josef Tuazon, DPT partnered with the Burn Advocates Network, the Haitian Ministry of Health and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine to open the first ever Physical and Occupational Therapy Rehabilitation Clinic in Northern Haiti. Dr. Josef treated both earthquake and non-earthquake victims, both young and old, at the Justinien Hospital Campus and their new outpatient clinic. Patients included post-earthquake amputees, fractures, burn cases , spinal cord injuries and pediatric cases. ABLe and the Burn Advocates Network also joined forces with For Haiti With Love at their burn clinic and orphanage during their volunteer stay. In addition, Dr. Josef was responsible for teaching the inaugural Physical Therapy classes to the first rehab nurses at the hospital. Sam Davis, President of the Burn Advocates Network, Dr. Pierre-Louis, Chief of Orthopedics at Justinien Hospital, Dr. Vulcain, Chair of the Haiti Project at the University of Miami and Josef Tuazon, the program’s Chief of Rehabilitation, have scheduled regular trips back to Haiti to ensure the project’s success. Dr. Josef said it best when he said, “Some of us are able to donate money, while others donate their time. All are equally important as long as we all give. A Better Life for all people starts first with your heart.”

Words To Live By

The words "Bridge Builder" is tattooed on The Fight Doc's arm. It is one of his favorite poems and one that he holds close to his heart.

The Bridge Builder

An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To a chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way;
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide --
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?"

The builder lifted his old gray head:
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today
A youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
To that fair-haired youth may a pit-fall be,
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building this bridge for him."
